The Pittsburgh stop of the Dykes and Young duo's regional tour, with the extraordinary soundscape of their fully acoustic improvisation and emerging fixed composition.
Dykes/Young are are joined by Darksoft, comprised by the voice of Harrisburg-based multidisciplinary artist Tara Toms, and Pittsburgh's Eric Weidenhof on the cello. Their work “Thought-Object Fusion” features classical musicianship alongside modern improvisation, with a bend toward experimentation and storytelling.
Bassist Laura Dykes (Austin, TX) and violinist Jeff Young (Boston, MA) first met in Oberlin Conservatory, and reconnected in 2017 at the Lucerne Festival. Jeff is known to Alia Musica's audiences for his work Patriots, which he co-composed and performed with Paul Pinto in July 2018—an event that also included Eric Weidenhof as part of the opening set by Dubravka Bencic.
